Electronics and Communication Engineering is one of the rapidly developing core engineering group. The lab practices in this branch of engineering are fast changing and pose challenging to the students as well as to the faculty. The labs cover from the fundamentals of component identification, selection, use and application for all active and passive types.

The physical component handling is extended to virtual environment where the software permits the users/students to play with the components individually and in modules etc. leading to the concepts of Design Automation. The characteristics of the individual components can be embedded into the modules resulting in to the characterization of the module in the system, so that the students can play with the modules for the designs.

These design concepts are extended for larger and larger modules like CPLD’s, FPGA’s, and ASIC’s etc. Interconnection of these modules and the user interfaces are also developed through several software environments like EDA Tools, Mat Lab, Lab View, and Lab Windows etc. It is a difficult process to provide awareness to all the design environments.

Currently based on the Technological Developments, V.B.I.T is providing these environments open to all students in the institute to enable them to know the current state of Research and Development trends. Development platforms cover Micro Processors and Micro Controllers, Electronic Design Automation through different platforms like Xilinx/Altera digital design software, Lab View/ Lab Windows software, MatLab/Simlink, P Spice, Multisim, ECAD etc.

ECE branch of engineering blends appropriate knowledge of electronics, communication engineering, signal processing and computer engineering with appropriate mathematical strength.

As an engineer one has to use skills to design, develop, analyse and synthesise variety of current systems designs ranging from digital systems, computer-based electronics system to advanced internet multimedia applications or telecommunication systems, defense and Aerospace systems etc…

The laboratories at VBIT enable students to develop the capabilities to design, simulate, develop, fabricate and test electronic circuits/systems for manufacturability.

The labs do provide enough strength for the maintenance of electronic devices, modules and systems also enable them to understand the construction, identification, characteristics, specifications, merits, limitations and applications of electronic components and materials.

The concepts of Design for manufacturability are also introduced to the students to enable them to have the exposure for the development of International quality products following the International Quality Controls Standards etc. All these are beyond the laboratories specified by the University.
