MOU with C-MET

Vignana Bharathi Institute of Technology, Ghatkesar and Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology, Hyderabad have signed a memorandum of understanding to extend mutual cooperation in academic and research activities. This joint endeavour will cover the departments of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics and Chemistry. The formal MOU signing ceremony was held in Vignana Bharathi Institute of Technology on 11th May, 2013. Dr. Dinesh P. Amalnekar, Executive Director, C-MET and Dr. Goutham Rao, Chairman, VBIT formally exchanged the copies of the MOU documents after singing them amidst rapturous applause by the 150 odd faculty members of VBIT.

Dr. Dinesh P. Amalnekar, Executive Director, C-MET felt that many more instances of industry-institute interaction of this kind are needed for the sustained growth of science and technology. He said that other engineering institutions would do well by following the good example set by VBIT. Dr. G. Manoha

Reddy, Secretary, VBIT, proudly declared that it was another feather in the cap of the institution which had been consistently excelling both in academics and research. He made it a point that VBIT was one of the very few engineering institutions with exclusive R&D cell headed by an accomplished and globally reputed scientist. Principal, Dr. J. S. N. Murthy, expressed his belief that this association between the two organisations would turn out to be a long-standing one resulting in mutual growth. He felt optimistic that this endeavour would prove inspiring to the young faculty members to take active interest in academic research.

Dr. T.L.Prakash, Director C-MET, mentioned that it was a matter of great joy that the MOU was being signed on the auspicious occasion of National Technology Day. He said that scientific research would benefit the society and the common man only when it acquired the status of technology.

Dr. C.R.N. Sarma, Director, Academics proclaimed that it was a positive sign that VBIT came forward to associate with a research organization like C-MET which would go a long way in promoting industry-institute interaction.

Mr. CH.S.L.N. Sridhar, Associate Professor of Physics, delivered the welcome note while all the Heads of the Departments of VBIT and senior scientists from C-MET attended the programme.

Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology is a Scientific Society Registered under Ministry of Information Technology, with the main objective to establish technology strength in electronics materials for the present and future industrial requirement. Presently C-MET has three laboratories at Hyderabad, Pune and Thrissur. The high purity materials are the basic building blocks of electronics technology and therefore C-MET, Hyderabad is involved in development as well as scaling up of operations for production of high purity metals, alloys, special dopants and semiconductor materials.

Synthesis of Nano materials

In our Institute faculty are actively participating in research Activities. Many of our faculty registered for their Ph.D work. Mr.Ch.S.L.N.Sridhar,Associate professor in the department of H&S registered for his Ph.D from Andhra University under the supervision of Prof.S.Bangarraju. His area of research is nanomaterials. For the synthesis of nanomaterials he has setup one Hydrothermal unit with Furnace(1000 oc), Stainless steel autoclave (1 Litre capacity), hot air oven, electronic balance ,stirrer etc. Synthesis of nanomaterials is being done at V.B.I.T and characterization is being done at National Laboratories like IICT,HYDERABAD, CMET,PUNE, JNTU KAKINADA etc
